The exhibition “Fotogrammi di moda italiana: dagli anni ´50, l’Italia che veste il cinema internazionale” curated by Stefano Dominella, honorary president of Maison Gattinoni, and organized by the Italian Cultural Institute of Prague recounts the cinema-fashion duo that has always represented an effective and suggestive tool for making Made in Italy known and promoted abroad.
In the 1950s, it was precisely Hollywood that showed the world that, in Italy, in Rome, a new “couture” trend was being born that would give birth to “Made in Italy”; in a short time, the italian capital became the “Hollywood on the Tiber” and the factory of Italian-style dreams.
Hailing from important private historical archives and Stefano Dominella's personal historical archive, we find on display the original dresses worn by iconic actresses who dictated new styles such as Lana Turner, Anita Ekberg, Audrey Hepburn, Anna Magnani, Sophia Loren, Monica Bellucci, Gina Lollobrigida, Fanny Ardant, Charlotte Rampling, Liz Taylor, Claudia Cardinale, and Maria Callas. A small tribute is also paid to Eva Herzigová for this Prague exhibition.
Through 39 gowns, signed by famous couturiers, designers and ateliers such as Fernanda Gattinoni, Renato Balestra, Emilio Schuberth, Sartoria Peruzzi, Annamode Costumes, Irene Galitzine, Laura Biagiotti, Guillermo Mariotto, “Fotogrammi di moda italiana” tells the visitor an extraordinary story that you cannot miss!
